Southwest Edmonton Farmer’s Markets a “GO-GO”

Farmer’s markets have changed considerably through the years. As our city grows, there has been a wonderful movement to ‘Support Local’ and ‘Gather in Neighbour Communities’. The Southwest Edmonton Farmers Market held its grand opening May 18, 2011. Just this Wednesday evening there was a headcount of 2440 people attending the market, located in the parking lot of Lillian Osborne High School at 2019 Leger Road. It’s open every Wednesday evening (5:30 to 8pm) from May until the end of September.
Kathleen and myself absolutely love being involved with any event or activity that supports our city’s local entrepreneurs and businesses! We have never set up before within a market setting so it was an adventure for us to feature our little local business and product this last Wednesday evening. After 4 1/2 years of existence it is time to actively promote our wonderful product that is truly Edmontonian – inspired by a local dad, designed by a local couture designer and manufactured right here in Edmonton!
What an amazing time we had! So nice to hear the compliments from men and women at the market. All saying, “wow! What a great idea!” “That is super! and it is made here!“. There were fathers and mothers with baby strollers everywhere! Grandparents eager to pick out their Grandchild’s new locally made Bibagogo.
Here are some tips and topics discussed with people at our booth:
- Baby in early months of life should wear a Bibagogo when in carseat. The bib and bottom pocket holds fallen soothers, play rattles and chunky toys. Promote play and hand-eye coordination practice.
- Snap fasteners are the best for bibs as often with the magnet or velcro snaps, children can pull off bib. Once they pull off a bib once, it becomes a battle to keep any bib on. So first bib should be Bibagogo as it has adjustable snap fasteners.
- In back hidden pockets, stuff small sticky notes and a pencil crayon for older tots so you have an activity with the Bibagogo when out at restaurant waiting for your meal to arrive. (Bibagogo hidden back pockets comes with 2 facecloths and a feeding spoon)
- Use the Bibagogo as an emergency change pad if need be (Washable and drier-safe)
- The same Bibagogo will last years as a feeding bib and eventually become the child’s art smock for pre-school.
- Every car should have a Bibagogo as it is perfect for carseat snacking and play (bottom pocket holds small books, toys, crayons and mini-paper pads
- Lifetime warranty – baby to toddlerhood
Not only did we sell more than we ever expected to, but people left with our local retailers cards. Get ready My Filosophy, Sweet Momma Spa, Sprogs.ca and Bosom Babies! Many said that the Bibagogo will be their next ‘Go-To’ Baby/Tot gift or baby shower gift. Being at the market was a great public relations venture for us. Proudly shared our product and marketing our local retailers!
Next days scheduled to be set up at the SW Edmonton Farmer’s Market
- July 13th
- August 24th

Here is a list of some of our SW Edmonton Farmer’s market favourites!
I buy a dozen of the mini-cupcakes to keep in the freezer. For an extra special treat, I pull one out and cut in half for my two kidlets to enjoy.

I am dealing with potty training. These fleece soakers have been great as they are easy for my two toddlers to manage for those quick trips to toilet/potty and super easy to wash. Instead of pull-ups, these have been my choice. The fleece soaker with skirt is perfect for little girls and the boy ‘boxer’ looking soakers are a hit with my 3 year old boy.
What can I say! Nothing better than a good cup of coffee. Transcend Coffee is not only amazing but a local Edmonton company!
